Xiaomi has sold over 1 lakh SU7 cars in less than one year

Xioami, the Chinese smartphone brand, stepped into the electric automobile business last year. Xioami SU7 is the company’s first electric car launched in December 2024. And before it could turn 1, the company has already sold over 1 lakh SU7 cars. It indicates that the car is overachieving its targets for the year. Lei Jun, the company’s founder, chairman, and CEO took to X, and introduced the 1 lakh-th owner of the Xioami SU7. He also posted on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging site, “Xiaomi SU7 deliveries have exceeded 1,00,000 units, and we have achieved our full-year target ahead of schedule.”
After looking at the sales count, Lei added that Xiaomi will challenge a new target of 130,000 units delivered for the full year 2024. The new target is a further increase from the previous upwardly revised target of 120,000 units. Xiaomi officially launched the SU7 on March 28, offering three versions — Standard, Pro, and Max — with starting prices of RMB 215,900 (Rs 25,18,048), RMB 245,900 (Rs 28,67,939), and RMB 299,900 (Rs 34,97,742), respectively.
Deliveries of Xiaomi’s SU7 Standard and Max versions began in April, followed by the SU7 Pro in May. During Xiaomi’s Q1 earnings call on May 23, management announced a goal of delivering at least 100,000 SU7 units in 2024, with a stretch target of 120,000 units. Remarkably, the 100,000th unit rolled off the production line on November 13, just 230 days after the model’s launch.
While Xiaomi has not disclosed detailed monthly delivery figures recently, it reported delivering over 10,000 units per month between July and September, surpassing 20,000 units in October. Production for November and December is projected to reach 24,000 units per month, according to local media outlet 36kr.
The SU7 is manufactured at Xiaomi EV’s Beijing facility, which has an annual production capacity of 150,000 units in its first phase, with a second phase under construction. In October, the plant achieved a capacity utilisation rate of 160 percent, delivering over 20,000 units despite a design capacity of 12,500 units per month. To meet rising demand, Xiaomi is targeting a 24,000-unit monthly output, potentially pushing capacity utilisation near 200 percent, reflecting the company’s efforts to alleviate delivery pressures.
At the Xiaomi EV technology launched at the end of last year, the company released 3 colours for Xiaomi SU7: Aqua Blue, Verdant Green, and Mineral Gray, which proved popular with many Mi fans. Afterwards, the company released 6 more colours, including Meteor Blue, Radiant Purple, Romantic, Basalt Gray, Lava Orange, Pearl White, and Diamond Black.
Xiaomi SU7 provides two sets of Xiaomi Pilot options: Pro and Max. Both options are self-developed using completely homogenous technology. For example, incorporating the same 11-camera combination and NVIDIA DRIVE Orin computing platform with full-stack self-developed algorithms allows different versions of cars to enjoy our latest advancements, delivering a better experience. Xiaomi SU7 also offers a variety of customisation options. Read more about it here.
